Furlough. An Employee who desires to leave their position retains the opportunity to return to employment as METRO personnel needs allow.
A. An Employee who wishes to take advantage of furlough shall give written notice to METRO and the Union not more than seventy-five (75) nor less than twenty-two (22) calendar days before the date the desired furlough is to take effect. METRO will notify the Employee of the status of their request no later than fifteen (15) calendar days after the application is received. If the needs of METRO dictate, METRO may delay the date of release of furlough by a period not to exceed seventy-five (75) calendar days from the date of submission of request for the furlough. Once the furlough request is submitted to METRO, the Employee may not withdraw the request. Upon separation from METRO, access to the Employee’s PERS contribution will be regulated by State Law.
B. The granting of an indefinite furlough shall not exempt an Employee from discipline or discharge.
C. The duration of the furlough will be at least six (6) months, but may continue for an indefinite period. ▇▇▇▇▇ will consider return to work requests within the initial six (6) months if unusual circumstances exist. An Employee who wishes to resume service must mail a letter of intent to return by certified mail to METRO’s Human Resources Department. The letter will include the date on which the Employee will first be available for reemployment and an address and phone number where the Employee may be reached. The date an Employee provides as first becoming available for service shall not be more than twenty-four (24) months from the date the Employee began the furlough. An Employee failing to present the letter of intent to METRO and the Union within this twenty-four (24) month period shall be considered to have resigned effective the date the furlough began. An exception to this twenty-four (24) month deadline will be made in the case of an Employee on furlough status due to an Industrial Injury, for which the time limit shall be sixty
Furlough. If the Board implements a furlough under Texas Education Code section 21.4021, the Superintendent shall be furloughed for the same number of days as other contract personnel and the Superintendent’s salary shall be reduced in proportion to the number of furlough days.
Furlough. Federal or State funding shortages may require employees to be placed on furlough. Furlough is defined as a temporary non-duty, non-pay status which occurs when Federal or State appropriations expire and no future funding is allotted and lasts less than 30 days. Affected employees would be released from work until such funding is restored. The Employer agrees to meet with Union officials as soon as information is available regarding possible funding shortages which may result in furloughs and to give affected employees as much advance notice as possible when a furlough is imminent. Employees placed on furlough will be granted liberal use of paid or unpaid leave. In the event that funding is retroactively restored, paid and unpaid leave utilized during times of furlough may be reinstated to the employee's appropriate leave bank. In such cases, employees will be furloughed following the provisions found in Section 9.3.
Furlough. The placement of an employee in temporary non-duty and non-pay status for not more than 30 consecutive days or 22 nonconsecutive work days during the twelve (12) month period beginning the day after the effective date of the furlough. In the event of a furlough, other than a furlough implemented because of a temporary loss of federal funds, the Employer may not furlough an Employee in the manner that results in the loss of more than eighty (80) hours of pay during a twelve (12) month period or more than fifty-three (53) hours of pay in any pay
Furlough. Except as otherwise provided, employees will retain and continue to accrue Company Seniority, Bid Seniority and Furlough Recall Seniority for the duration of furloughs from active service. For Pay Seniority and Vacation Seniority, employees with 10 or more years of service at the time of furlough will retain and continue to accrue seniority while on furlough. For Pay Seniority and Vacation Seniority, employees with less than 10 years of service at the time of furlough will retain and continue to accrue seniority for the first 90 days while on furlough and any time worked when recalled for a temporary assignment.

Furlough. A furlough is the placement of an employee in a temporary leave without pay status for a specified number of hours within a specified time frame. Furloughs may be implemented by reducing hours for every week of work, or by reducing the number of days worked in a specified week, month or year. Once the decision is made to require a furlough, FHSU Administration and FHSU-AAUP must meet to discuss how the furloughs for teaching faculty for both on-campus and Virtual College courses will be implemented. A furlough/pay reduction action will affect all teaching faculty to the same extent.
