If a nurse chooses to attend an educational 27 conference that is funded with the educational development fund and 28 the ETO request is approved, once per year the nurse may elect to 29 utilize leave without pay instead of ETO for conference days that 30 otherwise would have been days worked.

(Ǫueen’s Credit Courses) Eligibility Within the limits defined by this policy, all eligible Ǫueens’ University employees are entitled to have the payment of tuition fees for Ǫueen's credit courses and eligible non-credit courses waived at the time of registration. Eligibility for tuition payment waiver will commence after 1 year of continuous employment at Ǫueen's University. Generally, eligibility includes: • general staff (continuing, term, research grant and contract) with appointments of 40% time or more; • members of C.U.P.E. Local 229, 254 and 1302; • other employees (e.g., librarians, archivists) with continuing and term appointments of 40% time or more; • academic and adjunct staff as defined in Article 13 of the ǪUFA collective agreement with appointment of 40% time or more. Individuals employed on contracts who are not considered as part of the general staff (e.g., post doctoral fellows, visiting researchers and scholars, undergraduate and graduate students, academic assistants and instructors, adjunct academic staff, and casual staff) are not eligible for tuition payment waiver under this policy. Certain units occupying space on the campus of Ǫueen's University are not subject to this policy. For a current listing of affiliated organizations, please refer to the Human Resources website (▇▇▇.▇▇▇▇▇▇▇.▇▇/▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇). The individuals employed by these organizations are not Ǫueen's employees. Eligibility for tuition payment waiver will be confirmed by Human Resources at the time of course registration and is based on the employee's employment status during the course offering.

If a nurse 24 chooses to attend an educational conference that is funded with the 25 educational development fund and the ETO request is approved, once per 26 year the nurse may elect to utilize leave without pay instead of ETO for 27 conference days that otherwise would have been days worked.
28 13.4.1 Funding Effective July 1, 2023 the annual contribution to the 29 educational development fund shall be one-hundred and ninety 30 thousand dollars ($190,000.00). Educational development fund 31 monies shall be available for nurses after the completion of the 1 introductory period specified in Section 5.2. This provision shall be 2 in addition to the Hospital required in-service education specified 3 in Section 13.2.2; but shall include approved paid attendance at 4 Hospital-sponsored educational programs and seminars 5 requested by the nurse. The education development fund shall be 6 established January 1 of each year with any under-expenditures 7 up to ten percent (10%) of the annual contribution eligible to carry 8 over to the next year.
