Definition of Promotional Vacancy. Promotional vacancies for the purposes of this contract are advancements from the grade of patrol officer to detective or sergeant. Should new job classification positions be created within this bargaining unit, which would be a promotion, the same conditions of filling, the promotional vacancy shall apply.
