Contract Consistency With Other Laws. The contract shall govern if State and local environmental quality laws conflict with or preclude performance of contractual requirements. J.0—PERFORMANCE AND SETTLEMENT J.1 Performance Bond. As a further guarantee of the faithful performance of the provisions of this contract, Con- tractor delivers herewith and agrees to maintain a surety bond in the dollar amount stated in A.17, unless the amount is adjusted as provided in J.1.1 or J.1.3. In lieu of surety bond, Contractor may deposit into a Federal Depository, as directed by Forest Service under E.2.1, and maintain therein, cash in the dollar amount stated in A.17 or negotiable securities of the United States having market value at time of deposit of not less than the dollar amount stated in A.17. Any adjustment or extension of time for completion of this contract beyond 1 year may be granted only with the consent of surety on bond or delivery of a new bond. Should the sureties on the bond delivered herewith, or any bond delivered hereafter in connection with this contract, become unsatisfactory to Forest Service, Contractor shall, within 30 days of receipt of demand, furnish a new bond with surety satisfactory to Forest Service.
