Collaboration with Industry Sample Clauses

Collaboration with Industry. The work done by RNP to setup the overlay network to connect all Brazilian island triggered a partnership with DATACOM – an equipment manufacturer industry based in Brazil (xxxx://xxx.xxxxxxx.xxx.xx). DATACOM is supplying ten OpenFlow switches which are being used to deploy the Brazilian testbed. Although DATACOM was chosen among many other suppliers, including major network industries based in USA, this partnership is not restricted to providing hardware equipment. DATACOM is also collaborating to provide a one-week course about OpenFlow during a RNP training seminar that will be held in October 2013. The Seminar is open to the public. Experiments using the FIBRE testbed will be presented as use case examples of OpenFlow.

Collaboration with Industry. Although no official meeting between FIBRE and industry representatives has taken place during year 1 of the project, some of the FIBRE partners have been discussing and interacting with industry players, whose representatives become aware of the project facts via these discussions. Discussions with representatives from JUNIPER, BROCADE, DATACOM, PadTec and WXBR have taken place. In the last workshop of FIBRE partner RNP (30/4/2012) there was also a presentation from Hewlett Packard (HP) about SDN. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that there are subscribers from BROCADE, PadTec and WXBR in FIBRE’s public mailing list. FIBRE’s intent is to further stress its interaction with industry players, and in a more coordinated manner. As a first step we mention the industry panel session in the upcoming first FIBRE workshop in Salvador (cf. section 5.2). More details and planned actions will be described in Deliverable 6.3 (due in M17), which will present the project’s updated dissemination plan for the continuation of the project, based on the first year experience.
