First Step definition

First Step means First Step Finance Limited (dissolved on 23 February 2016);
First Step. Any grievance shall be adjusted by direct contact between the employee and his immediate supervisor either with or without his departmental union representative present. Such contact must be made within three (3) working days of the occurrence of the grievance or the Company shall not be obligated to make any adjustment of the grievance. The immediate supervisor may review the matter with the Team Leader or appropriate Manager before providing a response. Should the immediate supervisor, Team Leader, or Manager desire to gain a better understanding of the facts and/or issues presented by the grieving employee, he may request that the grievance be reduced to writing. First Step. A grievance shall first be taken up by the Shop Xxxxxxx with or without the employee affected by meeting with a designated representative of the Company, in an attempt to settle the grievance. Third Step: (a) Any disagreement, grievance or dispute arising under this Agreement which is not settled to the satisfaction of either the Union or the Company under the provisions of this Agreement shall upon written notice of either party be submitted to an Arbitration Board, which shall be bound by the rules of this Agreement. The Board shall consist of a single member named by the parties. In the event of failure to agree to within one week he or she shall be appointed by the Minister of Labour for the Province of British Columbia. Any expense incurred as a result of the appointment of the third party shall be borne in equal shares by the Company and the Union. The decision of the Board shall be rendered within two (2) weeks. The time limits referred to herein may be extended by mutual agreement.
First Step. Any employee or group of employees having a grievance shall first discuss the grievance on a personal face-to-face basis with xxxxxxxx’s immediate supervisor, except as noted in section (c) above. This step shall not require a written grievance, however, the employee(s) must advise the supervisor that the First Step of the Grievance Procedure is being initiated. Within ten (10) calendar days immediate supervisor shall render a decision. If the grievant is not satisfied with the decision, the grievant may submit the grievance to the next step not later than ten (10) calendar days thereafter.
First Step. An attempt shall be made to resolve any grievance in informal, verbal discussion between the complainant and his/her immediate supervisor.
