Bus Drivers. A. The Board agrees to pay bus drivers their regular rate per hour for driving in excess of four (4) hours per day on their regular route. Bus Drivers. A. The Board agrees provisions of this Article apply to pay school term bus drivers their except as hereinafter modified. Bus Drivers are guaranteed a base of one thousand and ninety (1090) hours per school year. Guarantee consists of 1090 hours divided by possible working days in a school year times actual number of days worked. This excludes Saturday and Sunday and General Holiday trips.
(a) Regular shift is defined as the conveyance of passengers to school in the morning and home in the afternoon.
(b) Extra shift is defined as the conveyance of passengers for extra-curricular activities.
(c) Shifts shall be paid at a minimum of two (2) hours and drivers' time will be uninterrupted if less than one-half (½) hour remains between shifts.
(i) Drivers are entitled to one 15 minute rest period after two (2) hours of work and a second rest period after six (6) hours of work. Paid waiting times of 15 minutes or more will be construed as a paid rest period regardless of the length of time spent waiting.
(d) All work after nineteen hundred (1900) hours on those days on which the regular shift has been worked shall be deemed to be overtime. After twelve (12) hours from the start of the regular shift, work will be deemed as overtime.
(e) Hours of work consisting of regular and extra shifts and overtime are shared as equally as possible amongst drivers. Each driver has the opportunity to choose a percentage of the work available beyond one’s guaranteed hours, although the decision of the Employer will prevail. If no drivers are available, other transportation department staff may share the work.
(f) Where School District transportation is used for extra-curricular trips on Saturdays and Sundays, the following applies instead of the overtime rates in Article 10.2:
(i) Time and one-half (1 ½) regular rate per hour for driving in excess to and from destination.
(ii) Upon arrival at destination, waiting time shall be paid at the regular rate of pay.
(iii) No shift will be paid less than four (4) hours per day on their regular route. The Board agrees to pay bus drivers their regular rate while transporting students on another regular route during an emergency situationhours.
B. The Board agrees (iv) Trips that are cancelled where the driver positions into departure point/school shall be paid at two (2) hours at one and one half (1 ½) times the regular rate.

(vi) An exception to pay 9.5 (f) (i) to (iv) above will apply to bus drivers $15.00 per hour for field driving on ski trips. Field Bus drivers who drive on ski trips shall share those hours only with other registered ski trip drivers.
(g) Work carried out on General Holidays shall be paid in accordance with the current contract rates.
(h) At the end of each school year a review of school bus drivers’ hours of work will be made to ensure minimum guarantee is met. Any shortages will be paid from the point where students are picked up to the point students are returned or the point when the driver returns to the pick-up locationout.

Bus Drivers. A. (a) The School District agrees that all transportation of students on curricular or extra curricular activities shall be performed by Transportation Department employees in Board agrees operated and maintained vehicles. Exceptions may be made by the Transportation Manager in advance of any particular event, with written notification to pay the Union. Students shall not transport other students to or from school sponsored activities, without exception. The right of school staff to drive students in private vehicles, and for the Transportation Department to provide for the use of charter coaches for extended trips, and for mainland ferry pickups and drop-offs, shall not be limited by the intent of this article.
(b) Regular Bus Drivers will select bus drivers their regular rate per hour for driving routes annually, using the following process.
(1) For the period from the end of the preceding school year until the new school year's routes are listed and selected, the Board will ensure that no driver experiences a wage decrease in excess of four one-half (41/2) hours hour per day on their regular routeday. The If a route is decreased by more than one-half hour per day, the Board agrees will assign the driver additional duties within the Transportation Department that is not the work of other bargaining unit members to cover the pay bus drivers their regular rate while transporting students on another regular route during an emergency situation.

A regular driver is any employee meeting all the first available requirements for school bus operation who is assigned a regular bus route. Should no regular driver accept the trip after canvassing the rotation list, the Transportation Supervisor, Dispatcher, or designee shall have the sole discretion to offer the trip to any person eligible to drive a school bus who is on the District’s transportation roster. Should no person on the District’s transportation roster accept the trip, the District’s Transportation Supervisor, Dispatcher, or designee shall have the sole discretion to assign the trip to any regular driver.
D. Each j) Regular runs will not be interrupted at any time.
k) Before substitute drivers are called, regular drivers who are free will be asked to cover runs for drivers on field trips as long as their regular runs are not interrupted.
l) When drivers are asked to cover an extra run that does not run in conjunction with their assignments there will be a minimum of one (1) hour pay at the regular rate.
m) All Board approved field trips, excluding overnight trips, requiring the transportation of district students to locations with a final destination within New York State north of Interstate Route 84 shall be considered exclusive bargaining unit work and shall be assigned to a unit member in accordance with the procedures set forth in this agreement. In addition, all Board approved field trips, excluding overnight trips, requiring the transportation of district students with a final destination of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, shall be considered exclusive bargaining unit work and shall be assigned to a unit member in accordance with the procedures set forth in this agreement. 2. Bus Driver Training
a) Training, beyond that required by the District, as requested by the Driver, shall be provided as follows:

b) Training that is requested by the District or required by the State shall be provided as follows:

27:4 When a driver is assigned to a trip which requires that the driver remain at the site with the students, the cost of renewal bus driver will be expected to complete routine housekeeping duties on the vehicle or if requested by the teacher, he/she should assist in the control of the Commercial Driver's License feestudents at the site providing the vehicle can be safely parked and left unattended. 27:5 On days of inclement weather when students are not transported to schools, upon submission of a fee receiptbus drivers will not be expected to report to work when excused by Superintendent’s school closing announcement. However, all bus drivers will be expected to work if the day is later rescheduled for make-up.
R. 27:6 On days of inclement weather when students will be transported on a later schedule due to a delay in the opening of schools, bus drivers will be expected to report to bus yard one (1) hour before bus run begins to make certain bus is prepared to pick up children.
27:7 Drivers will not normally be permitted to take the bus to their home between scheduled bus runs. They will take the bus to the garage or park it on a school parking lot unless special arrangements are made with the supervisor of transportation.
27:8 Drivers approved to attend Bus Conferences and/or Safety Meetings will be paid at their regular straight time rate for time in attendance at sessions and necessary travel time. 27:10 All physical examinations for renewal of the bi-annual operator’s license shall be performed by the district Chief Medical Inspector at no cost to the employee.
27:11 There will be a two (2) hour minimum call-in time. The driver will be assigned some related work in order to receive the minimum two (2) hour pay.
27:12 The employee who works during the summer months shall be paid an hourly rate equivalent to his/her current contract according to the salary guide effective July 1st of the same year. Summer bus driving, when required, will be organized by the Supervisor on the basis of seniority. The seniority list shall be maintained from year to year. The most senior bus driver shall have the first preference of runs beginning in the summer of 1998 with the understanding that this process may not result in a guaranteed six hours of work or a guarantee of equal time. Once routes are selected, changes will not be made in originally assigned routes.

Bus Drivers. A. a. The School District agrees that all transportation of students on curricular or extra curricular activities shall be performed by Transportation Department employees in Board agrees operated and maintained vehicles. Exceptions may be made by the Transportation Manager in advance of any particular event, with written notification to pay the Union. Students shall not transport other students to or from school sponsored activities, without exception. All non-walking field trips which are sponsored by trip is offered, the District, have been approved by the Superintendent, and are accompanied by an advisor/teacher shall be offered to regular drivers before they are offered to substitutes. k) Before substitute drivers are called, regular drivers who are free will be asked to cover runs for drivers on field trips as long as their regular runs are not interrupted.
l) When drivers are asked to cover an extra run that does not run in conjunction with their assignments there will be a minimum of one (1) hour pay at the regular rate.

a) Training, beyond that required by the District, as requested by the Driver, shall be provided as follows:

E. All drivers may take their regularly assigned bus on short trips, however, longer trips shall be assigned at the discretion of the Transportation Department.
F. The Board agrees to pay the cost up to thirty-five dollars ($35.00) for costs incurred to any bus driver for physical, eye tests, or abstracts.
G. At the beginning of each new school year, field trips shall be offered on a rotating basis from a driver rotation list, beginning with the most senior driver on the list. A bus driver who cancels a trip (non-emergency cancellation as determined by the supervisor) with less than forty-eight (48) hours notice shall miss their turn on the next two trip rotations. Drivers may elect to remove themselves from consideration for extra trips. If removed, drivers will remain so for the designated period of time that trips are bid or they may elect to remove themselves for the entire school year.

(e) Bus drivers shall be paid on the basis of eighty-seven (87) hours per month for all time ten (10) months per year, and shall receive the wage rates, conditions of employment, benefits and perquisites specified in this Collective Agreement.
(f) Bus drivers when driving extra trips of more than one (1) days duration shall receive eight (8) hours per day, at prevailing rates, while on stand-by (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), exclusive of one (1) hour meal time, plus expenses for meals and accommodation as per Board policy.
(g) The following additional special provisions shall be applied to the bus drivers when they are called out for school student activities:
i) For the purpose of definition, a bus driver’s “working day” shall be that is spent on period from the commencement of their initial bus run to pick up students in the morning and the completion of their bus including deadheadrun returning those students in the afternoon
ii) During their “working day”, breakdown, maintenance time, layover time, and random drug and alcohol testinga bus driver when scheduled for an extra trip shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours pay at the prevailing hourly rate. Overtime rates will apply as soon as a bus driver exceeds eight (8) hours work during their “working day”.
E. (h) Late night runs and academies will be assigned to a regular bus run. All extra bus trips will be assigned on a rotational basis, starting with the senior driver. All drivers may take who choose an extra run which results in the relinquishing of their regularly assigned regular shift shall have hours worked beyond four (4) hours that day recorded as extra shift hours.
(i) In instances where the Board decides to utilize its school buses for:
i) School activities and
ii) For travel on Saturday and/or Sunday – then the following rates will apply:
1) First eight (8) hours – straight time regular rate
2) Next two (2) hours – One and one half (1½) times regular rate 3) Ten (10) hours or more – Two (2) times regular rate
iii) There will be a guaranteed eight (8) hour day for such work
iv) Bus driving hours on Saturday and Sunday shall not be used to calculate normal overtime provisions; specifically eight (8) hours in a day or forty (40) hours in a week.
(j) Bus drivers shall have the right to claim bus on short trips, however, longer trips shall routes according to seniority.
(k) Bus drivers will be assigned given the opportunity to wash the exterior and interior of school buses at the regular bus driver’s rate with the frequency of washing to be at the sole discretion of the Transportation DepartmentManager or designate.

If a driver does not have his/her name on the list, the driver cannot take extra trips until after the beginning of the next semester. All out of town trips will rotate among the regular drivers. In the event no regular driver desires the route, the route will be assigned to a substitute driver. Trips out of the elementary schools will be handled by regular drivers for those routes unless the trip is not to be back in time for high school yearpick up or the trip is regularly scheduled daily or for two (2) or more consecutive weeks. Any run over two (2) weeks consecutively, field trips will be assigned to drivers by seniority.
B. Bargaining unit members shall be given the option of driving all extra runs or extra trips in rotation as long as the extra trip or run doesn't conflict with the member's regular run. If all bargaining unit members should turn down an extra trip or run, a substitute driver shall be awarded the extra trip or run. In the event there are no substitutes available to be awarded the trip or run and there are not others available for that day, the extra trip or run will go to the full-time driver rotation list and will be filled by a regular full-time driver for that day. In situations where the full-time driver is awarded the extra run and where a substitute driver is not available to drive the regular run, the transportation supervisor may direct other full-time drivers to drive multiple runs for that day. Subs who are working on a regular run will not be taken off that run for an extra run or trip.
C. During scheduled breaks in the School Calendar and during the summer break period, drivers will be offered the opportunity to be employed in such activities as cleaning of the bus fleet. Employment will be offered using a rotation method based on the concept of seniority among the drivers, meaning that the more senior driver will be the first to be solicited for the available work.
D. Summer programs that require the use of school bus drivers, will be offered to the drivers based on a rotating basis from a driver rotation list, beginning with the most senior driver on the list. Nine (9) or more students shall be considered a field trip to be transported in a van, mini bus or regular bus, excluding trips by the multiple impaired students, History Day, Science Olympiad, Mock Trial, Vision Unit, commercial buses sponsored by a non- Board entity for football state playoffs, and all other regional and State sports events.
M. The Board shall make available to all bus drivers a copy of the State Manual to assist drivers in passing the required written examination.
N. The Board shall provide inservice education for all regular drivers employed the effective date of this Agreement to assist drivers in passing the required written examination.
O. All bus drivers shall be required to meet all licensing requirements of the State of Ohio to be employed or to remain in the employment of the District.
P. All bus drivers shall pass any drug testing requirements established by the Ohio Department of Education, Ohio State Laws, and/or Federal Law governing the commercial licensing of all bus drivers. The cost of said required testing shall be borne by the Board.
Q. The Board shall reimburse up to $44.75, once every (4) years, the cost of renewal of the Commercial Driver's License fee, upon submission of a fee receipt.
R. The drivers who were grandfathered to drive their buses to and from home on their current routes as of 2001-2002 will remain grandfathered as long as they are drivers for the District, and remain on the same routes. All new drivers shall be subject to the approval of the Transportation Supervisor and Superintendent on taking buses home. (See paragraph J.) In the event a bus driver authorized to take his/her bus home, including the grandfathered drivers, moves from his/her present residence, the Transportation Supervisor and Superintendent shall determine whether the driver will be permitted to continue to drive his/her bus home. (See paragraph J.)
S. Bus drivers who are required to plug bus heaters in at their residences shall be paid $1.50 per plug-in.
T. The Board will pay for the cost of mandatory training to meet certification requirements.

Bus Drivers. A. The Board agrees to pay bus drivers their A regular rate per hour for driving in excess route will consist of a minimum of four (4) hours per day. This route may be made up of a trip in the a.m. and a trip in the p.m. Drivers will be paid for normal, regular hours worked within their classification, for sick days, holidays and vacation times. Normal, regular hours will include hours from an AM Route, Mid-Day Route, PM Route and Activity Route from the previous school year. Field trip drivers will be paid an average six (6) hours. If the Board eliminates field trips, those drivers affected will be paid their normal hours worked for sick days, holidays and vacation times. Six hours are meant to be the basis for calculating sick and vacation day on their regular route. The Board agrees to pay bus drivers their regular rate while transporting students on another regular route during an emergency situationfor the following school year, not a guaranteed minimum for pay.
B. The Board agrees A driver will normally work a minimum twenty (20) hours on full scheduled five (5) day weeks, except during emergency periods.
C. Drivers will be allowed one- (1) hours pay each week for the washing of their bus.
D. Whenever possible, field trips and extra runs will be rotated among properly qualified bus drivers. However, such trips/runs shall not be assigned to pay a driver if the assignment, in any manner, interferes with the driver's regularly scheduled route. Drivers refusing such assignments will be charged as though they had accepted the additional work.
E. If a driver is not notified of a cancellation for a scheduled run, field trip or additional run, the driver will receive compensation for show up time for the scheduled hours cancelled up to a maximum of two (2) hours.
F. Drivers electing to accept assignments during any school recess period (i.e., summer and other break periods) must submit a written request for any driving assignments to the Director of Transportation at least 2 weeks prior to the recess period. Such assignments shall be made on the basis of driver qualifications and seniority.
G. Any driver involved in an extended school year program will keep their runs when the other schools are out and work around their bus drivers $15.00 per hour for field tripsruns to make up their four- (4) hours. Field trips If they request and are granted additional work outside their classifications, they will be paid from the point where students are picked up to the point students are returned or the point when the driver returns to the pick-up location.
C. The terms "field trips," "special trips," and "extra trips" shall henceforth be known as field trips. All non-walking field trips which are sponsored by the District, have been approved by the Superintendent, and are accompanied by an advisor/teacher shall be offered to regular drivers before they are offered to substitutes. Dropped trips or trips that arise within twenty-four (24) hours of the scheduled departure time can be filled with the first available driver.
D. Each bus driver shall be paid for all time that is spent on their bus including deadhead, breakdown, maintenance time, layover time, and random drug and alcohol testing.
E. All drivers may take their regularly assigned bus on short trips, however, longer trips shall be assigned at the discretion of the Transportation Department.
F. The Board agrees to pay the cost up to thirty-five dollars ($35.00) for costs incurred to any bus driver for physical, eye tests, or abstracts.
G. At the beginning of each new school year, field trips shall be offered on a rotating basis from a driver rotation list, beginning with the most senior driver on the list. A bus driver who cancels a trip (non-emergency cancellation as determined by the supervisor) with less than forty-eight (48) hours notice shall miss their turn on the next two trip rotations. Drivers may elect to remove themselves from consideration for extra trips. If removed, drivers will remain so for the designated period of time that trips are bid or they may elect to remove themselves for the entire school yearappropriate summer wage.
H. The Board agrees to supply each bus with When on a broom and window cleanerbus/truck run, for the proper inside and outside cleaning of the bus.

Bus Drivers. A. The Board agrees to pay bus drivers their regular rate per hour for driving in excess of
(a) Bus driver’s daily guarantee is four (4) hours per day based on their regular route. The Board agrees to two (2) hours pay bus drivers their at the employee’s regular rate while transporting in the morning and two (2) hours pay at the employee’s regular rate, returning the students on another regular route during an emergency situationin the afternoon.
B. The Board agrees to pay bus (b) Bus drivers $15.00 per hour shall receive a shift differential of three (3%) percent of their hourly rate for field trips. Field trips will be paid from the point where students are picked up to first four (4) hours of the point students are returned or the point when the driver returns to the pick-up locationdriver’s regular shift assignment.

(f) Bus drivers when driving extra trips of more than one (1) days duration shall receive eight (8) hours per day, at prevailing rates, while on stand-by (8:00
a. m. to 5:00 p.m.), exclusive of one (1) hour meal time, plus expenses for meals and accommodation as per Board policy.
(g) The following additional special provisions shall be applied to the bus drivers when they are called out for school student activities:
i) For the purpose of definition, a bus driver’s “working day” shall be that is spent on period from the commencement of their initial bus run to pick up students in the morning and the completion of their bus including deadhead, breakdown, maintenance time, layover time, and random drug and alcohol testing.
