Common use of Volunteer Emergency Service Clause in Contracts

Volunteer Emergency Service. A full-time employee who serves as a volunteer fire fighter, licensed ambulance attendant, emergency medical technician, disaster relief worker, search and rescue responder, or licensed rescue squad attendant and who is called from work, delayed in reporting to work, or absent from work due to emergency service shall be granted the use of annual leave, personal days, and/or accrued compensatory time to cover the period of such absence. An employee shall notify his/her immediate supervisor of such emergency service and of his/her need to be absent from work as soon as practical. The performance of said duties may be verified by management.
