TEMPORARY SERVICE OUT OF RANK. A permanent full-time police officer who is assigned to temporary service in a higher rank shall, commencing with the fourth consecutive tour of duty in such higher rank, be paid for such service as if promoted to such higher rank.

A permanent full-time regular police officer who is assigned to temporary service in a higher rank shall, commencing with the fourth consecutive tour of duty in such higher rank, be paid for such service as if promoted to such higher rank. Payment shall be retroactive in such instances to the first consecutive tour of duty worked.
