Common use of TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES BECOMING REGULAR EMPLOYEES Clause in Contracts

TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES BECOMING REGULAR EMPLOYEES. The University may hire a temporary employee as a regular employee in a bargaining unit position provided the position has been posted and filled pursuant to the provisions of Article 7. A temporary employee who becomes a regular employee in the same position will be granted seniority beginning with the most recent date of hire as a temporary employee, unless the employee has had a break in service of seven (7) or more calendar days. The University will not use the seven (7) day break in service solely to deny employees retroactive seniority. Credit for temporary service under these conditions will not count toward eligibility for leave accruals or other employee benefit programs.
