Common use of Sick Clause in Contracts

Sick. Paid sick days shall be granted to employees and is defined as a necessary absence from duty due to illness, injury or exposure to contagious disease. Sick days may also be used for necessary attendance upon a member of the immediate family who is ill and in circumstances outlined in Article 14 with the prior permission of the Superintendent or designee. The definition of immediate family for the purpose of sick days, shall include domestic partners of the same or opposite sex who have lived in the same household for at least six (6) months and have made a commitment to continue to live as a family, and/or as defined by the federal Family Medical Leave Act and Rhode Island Domestic Partner Law.
