Shift Commander. There shall be a Shift Commander on duty for all scheduled shifts with the rank of Sergeant.
Shift Commander. 1. Upon notification by the dispatch center that a notification of absence has been received, the Shift Commander will report to the station as soon as practical. This “OIC” pay shall not be reduced as the result of calls to or from a command officer, who is not on duty, for the purpose of obtaining advice or direction. B. Patrol officers who are scheduled to be the shift commander for a patrol shift shall report for duty fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start of the scheduled shift, to assure a smooth transition from one shift to the next. This shall be compensated for by compensatory time off equal to the amount of time required for early reporting. C. In the event that there is a change in the shift commander as the result of a schedule change (shift change, sick call, etc.) the officer who is most senior and who actually reports for duty for the fifteen (15) minute transition period will be entitled to the fifteen (15) minute compensatory time. Only one officer per shift shall be entitled to this compensation.
Shift Commander. If the grievance remains unresolved, it shall be presented by the employee, with his Local Union Representative if he so desires, to his Shift Commander within seven (7) days after the response of the immediate supervisor. Employees who do not report through a Corrections Supervisor to a Shift Commander and wish to appeal a grievance should bypass Step 2 and proceed to Step 3. The Shift Commander shall attempt to resolve the grievance and shall respond in writing to the grievant within seven (7) days.
