Common use of Return to Former Class Clause in Contracts

Return to Former Class. As an alternative to appointment from any employment list, other than a re-employment list, any current regular worker, upon recommendation of the appointing authority and approval by the Director of Personnel, may be appointed without further examination to a position in any class in which regular status had formerly been acquired, or to any related class on a comparable level with the former class. In cases where this procedure is used by a person who has had a break in service of one (1) year or more from the former classification, the salary step in the new range shall be determined under the provisions of Article 7, Section 7.3.
