Qualifications for Pay. In order to qualify for Statutory Holiday pay, the employee must work the required regular shift immediately preceding and following the Statutory Holiday. However, the employee will qualify for statutory holiday pay if they have been excused from working the required regular shift by their foremen or production manager or has been laid off, providing they have received payment for hours worked during the week containing the holiday or during the preceding week if the holiday falls on Monday. An employee who is disabled from working on either or both the regular shift immediately preceding or following the paid holiday and such disability is verified by a doctor’s certificate, will be paid for the statutory holiday. Employees who accept an additional overtime shift, and then fail to show up for work will be treated as if the day or days missed were the same as a regular shift for purposes regarding Statutory Holidays, recorded sickness, etc.
