Professional Development Commitment. The Employer is committed to ensuring that all of its teachers are supported in improving and learning new instructional practices to promote the goal of student achievement as well as proficiency and teacher growth. The Employer accordingly agrees that it is important to provide its teachers with opportunities to participate in professional development activities, obtain professional development activity credit from an approved State of Illinois provider and that it will accept feedback from the Professional Solutions Committee in determining the professional development needs of its teachers, in accordance with Article 6 - Committees.
Professional Development Commitment. In addition to the meeting commitments described above, all teaching staff shall be obligated to engage in their Professional Development Commitment (PDC): a. Fourteen (14) required hours of professional development outside of the teacher workday b. The district commits to offer an additional eight (8) hours of professional development to take place during contractual hours. c. The fourteen hours of professional development will be divided equally into two categories: (a) collaborative meetings and (b) independent work. (a) Collaborative Meetings (b) Independent Work There shall be seven (7) hours. Seven (7) hours shall be done outside the teacher workday. These collaborative meetings shall be mutually agreed upon by the teacher and supervisor and/or building principal with the intent of meeting district and building goals/needs over the long term and/or working with professional learning communities centered around specific issues. The independent work shall be chosen by the teacher and approved by the supervisor from a menu of options. At the elementary and high school levels, administrators shall work with groups of teachers to set the agenda. Teachers shall meet at times and places that are mutually convenient with the expectation that such meetings should consist of no more than an average of forty-five (45) minutes additional per month.
Professional Development Commitment. Buyer shall send its first-time teachers of a CPM course to attend Seller’s complimentary professional development workshops and meetings for that course (“Programs”). Buyer agrees to provide release time to its teachers to attend such Programs during the school-year and to provide the necessary materials (i.e., manipulatives, textbooks and calculators) for its teachers to participate in the Programs. Professional Development Commitment. The Employer and the Union are committed to investing in its staff and members and shall provide training and professional development education for all representatives. This commitment is to ▇▇▇▇▇▇ and facilitate a nurturant environment for learning and staff development. Support for training or mentorship will be provided by the Employer on an as needed basis. As a minimum, once per year, the Employer shall provide opportunities for training for each representative. Courses shall include, but not be limited to, annual arbitration conferences, various labour schools, and basic writing courses focusing on labour communication, framing arguments, and debating. This list is for the purpose of example only and is not to be construed to limit the scope of education opportunities. This training shall be during working hours and recognized as part of the Employee’s regular work

  • Professional Development Program (a) The parties agree to continue a Professional Development Program for the maintenance and development of the faculty members' professional competence and effectiveness. It is agreed that maintenance of currency of subject knowledge, the improvement of performance of faculty duties, and the maintenance and improvement of professional competence, including instructional skills, are the primary professional development activities of faculty members. (b) Information collected as part of this program shall be the sole property of the faculty member. This information or any judgments arising from this program shall not be used to determine non-renewal or termination of a faculty member's contract, suspension or dismissal of a faculty member, denial of advancement on the salary scale, nor affect any other administrative decisions pertaining to the promotion or employment status of the faculty member. (c) A joint advisory committee consisting of three regular faculty members who shall be elected by and are P.D. Committee Chairpersons and three administrators shall make recommendations for the operation, financing and management of the Professional Development Program.

  • Professional Development Funds 23.1.1 Two Professional Development Funds, a Professional Development Support Fund and an Education Leave Fund, shall be established to support professional development activities as defined in 23.2. On April 1st of each year, the College will allocate an amount equal to no less than 0.9% of total faculty salary (exclusive of severance payments) to the Professional Development Support Fund, and an amount equal to no less than 0.6% of total faculty salary to the Educational Leave Fund. Any unused balances in these funds shall carry over to the next budget year. 23.1.2 The College agrees to provide the Association with the authority to administer the program on behalf of the College for those activities approved by the College in accordance with 23.2, 23.4 and 23.5. 23.1.3 Nothing in this Agreement prevents the College from funding professional development activities in addition to those activities supported through the Professional Development Funds (23.1.1) in accordance with the procedures described in this Article.
