Procedure for Establishing New Joint Appointments. 1) A tenured faculty member presently on a full-time teaching appointment in only one department may request that he or she receive a joint appointment (beginning in the forthcoming academic year) by submitting the request for a joint appointment to the Faculty Personnel Committee(s) serving the secondary department by November 15 of a given academic year. (If a Departmental Personnel Committee is in existence for the secondary department, then this request shall be transmitted to the Chair of that DPC; otherwise, the request for the joint appointment shall be transmitted to the Chair of the School Personnel Committee serving the secondary department.)

  • Term Appointments 16.3.4.1 A Term appointment carries no implication of renewal or continuation beyond the contractually limited term. A person holding a Term appointment may apply for a Probationary or Continuing appointment if such a position is available.

Such appointments shall be at the same rank, of the same type and with the same salary rate, in the Academic Departments or Faculties concerned. When sound academic reasons exist for doing so, a Faculty Member may be appointed jointly to an Academic Department and to a non-academic unit within the University. The Faculty Member shall have his/her rank, type of appointment, academic component of salary, credit for previous experience, promotion eligibility and other academic conditions determined on the same basis as for other Faculty Members. If such Faculty Members commence working entirely in one (1) Academic Department, their salary shall be in accordance with this Collective Agreement.

  • Provisional Appointment An employee with provisional status shall have no right to grieve or arbitrate release from such a provisional appointment.

  • Medical Appointments Medical appointments may be charged to sick leave, provided the minimum time charged is not less than one-half (1/2) hour. Each absence shall be reported separately and authorized in advance by the employee's immediate supervisor.

  • Adjunct Appointments The use of adjuncts at a university shall, upon the request of the UFF Chapter representatives, be a subject of consultation under the provisions of Article 2.1, Consultation.

  • Medical/Dental Appointments ‌ Where medical and/or dental appointments cannot be scheduled outside the employee's working hours, sick leave with pay shall be granted.

  • Visiting Appointments A "visiting" appointment is one made to a person having appropriate professional qualifications but not expected to be available for more than a limited period, or to a person in a position which the University does not expect to be available for more than a limited period. A visiting appointment may be offered in single or multi-year appointments not to exceed a total of four (4) consecutive years.

  • Duration of Appointment The Employment shall be deemed to have commenced on the Commencement Date and shall continue unless terminated in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement.
