Term appointments definition

Term appointments means employment for a specific period, with a separation date specified at the time of appointment. These appointments are for one-year periods and are renewable annually for up to five (5) consecutive years, with such decisions as to separation date made by the Office of the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ at the time of appointment. All term faculty appointments are made by the Board of Trustees.

Examples of Term appointments in a sentence

  • Term appointments for less than two (2) years may be made for such reasons as late resignation, illness of regular faculty, enrollment requirements, program demands, or replacements for leaves of absence and sabbatical leaves.

  • Term appointments shall normally be made for two (2) or three (3) years subject to satisfactory evaluation.

  • If appointed as the result of a national search, persons employed on Term appointments shall be given first consideration for newly authorized Term appointments, provided they meet the qualifications specified for the position and have had satisfactory annual evaluations.

  • Term appointments may be made for less than twelve months in circumstances such as: - when unforeseen circumstances prevent or delay a position from being filled before the beginning of the academic year; - when an academic staff member is granted leave for a period of less than twelve months; - when necessitated by planning decisions arising under Article 5; - when the candidate's availability limits the appointment.

  • Limited Term appointments carry no implication of renewal or continuation beyond the specified term.

  • These provisions apply to members of the academic staff holding Continuing, Contingent Term, or Limited Term appointments, whether full-time or part-time.

  • Such Regular Limited Term appointments shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Persons on two (2) year Term or on three (3) year Term appointments who already hold the appropriate terminal degree shall be given serious consideration for new Tenure Earning positions, provided they meet the qualifications specified for the position and have had satisfactory annual evaluations.

  • For newly authorized Term appointments for less than two (2) years, contingent faculty will be given serious consideration after current Term faculty, provided they meet the qualifications specified for the position and have had satisfactory annual evaluations.

  • Definite Term appointments shall terminate at the date specified within the letter of appointment.
