Common use of PERMISSIVE LEAVE OF ABSENCE Clause in Contracts

PERMISSIVE LEAVE OF ABSENCE. The BOARD may grant a leave of absence to any employee for a period of one year for any purpose, which the BOARD deems to constitute good cause. Such leave may be extended for an additional period of one year at the discretion of the BOARD. At the conclusion of the leave period, the employee shall be eligible to return to the first vacancy in his/her occupational group (Article IV, Section 8(A)(2)) for which the employee can qualify. It is understood that when an employee takes a permissive leave of absence or a leave for UNION office as described below s/he shall not receive any wages or fringe benefits while on such leave.
