Common use of Order of Layoff Clause in Contracts

Order of Layoff. Layoffs and/or reductions in force shall be made by classification. A classification is defined as a position or number of positions having the same title, job description and salary. Extra hire employees shall be laid off before permanent employees in the affected classification. In effecting the preceding order, a part-time permanent employee with more seniority can displace a full time permanent employee.
