Minimum Salary Increase When Promoted. Whenever a represented employee is promoted to a position of higher salary schedule within the same classification series, the employee shall receive compensation at the salary schedule for the new position that represents: (1) for a represented employee assigned to the salary step plan, a minimum of one rate increment over the amount the employee received in the former position; or (2) for a represented employee assigned to the salary range plan, a minimum of five percent (5%) over the amount the employee received in the former position; provided, however, that the City Administrator, with discretion and for good cause, may provide for compensation at any higher point in the applicable salary schedule for the classification if the represented employee has demonstrated outstanding achievement in the public service.
