Common use of Leave for Union Meetings Clause in Contracts

Leave for Union Meetings. Members of the Union who have been elected to represent the Union at conventions, or to attend executive or committee meetings of the Union shall apply in writing to the Employer at least two (2) weeks prior to the event. In cases of emergencies, shorter time frames will be considered. In cases where the employee may be excused from performing work for the Employer, then the leave may be granted. The granting of such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. The Employer shall maintain the wages and benefits for employees on leave under this Article. The Union shall reimburse the Employer for the wages and benefits for the time spent on such leave.
