Leadhand. An employee without supervisory recognition as per the job evaluation plan and who is designated leadhand shall receive an additional one dollar ($1.00) per hour on the base rate. Leadhand status must be designated by the Vice President, of Administration & Bursarand Finance and will normally recognize the fact that an employee is in charge of three (3) or more additional employees; however, leadhand status may also recognize a responsibility for the direction and coordination of specific work unit activities. In cases where an employee who has a supervisory assignment for which supervisory points are assigned in Job Evaluation and is temporarily assigned an additional supervisory role (three (3) employees or more) that employee shall also receive leadhand pay, unless such supervision results in the employee performing the principal duties of a higher paying position, in which case substitution pay pursuant to Article 28.04 applies, if in excess of leadhand rate.

Leadhand. (a) To supervise the work and work crews consisting of himself and two (2) or more other employees on assigned work projects related to water, sewer, drainage, roads, parks, repair, maintenance and construction.

Leadhand. The leadhand leads a group of people in a particular classification. He performs the regular duties of the group and in addition, assigns work to the individual under his direction. He reports directly to the Supervisor of the department and will not be involved with the hiring, separation, or formal disciplinary procedures of the Company. He shall be subject to all the terms of the Contract.

Leadhand. 6.02 A Leadhand, when designated by the Employer, shall receive $1.30 per hour above his/her normal rate. The employer shall have the sole authority to designate Leadhand and to decide which departments require Leadhand. A Leadhand is one who leads and advises other employees in a manner totally of a non-supervisory nature. Duties of such Leadhand shall be to provide assistance and instruction to a respective number of employees. When Leadhand are not occupied with these duties they will perform the duties of their own classification. They may also be required to assist supervisors in providing technical guidance and/or information to other employees. Other duties shall include ensuring that safety rules and procedures are followed and reporting job failures to supervisors, which may be caused by shortages; incomplete work orders, lack of tools or for other reasons which may be of a technical nature. When leadhand(s) are away on vacation or illness, the designated employee who takes on the leadhand responsibility in their absence shall be paid leadhand wages until employee returns to work.
