JOINT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. 1. The Board and the Union agree to maintain a Joint Professional Development Committee. 2. The Committee shall be chaired by the Chairperson of the PRDTU Professional Development Committee and shall have one representative from each staff in the district. Two representatives of the Board shall also be members of this Committee. 3. The primary purpose of this Committee shall be to establish and oversee guidelines and procedures for approving and facilitating both staff and teacher-initiated requests for funding and attendance at professional development activities. These guidelines shall incorporate a process for the allocating and administering of a major part of the available professional development funds (as determined in Article F.20.6) to and by the schools. Each school staff will be expected to determine its own system of monitoring and reviewing the use of their funds in order to encourage individual professional growth or staff development. 4. The Committee may also decide to contribute financially and organizationally towards other District No. 52 Professional Development activities. 5. JOINT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. F.20.1. The role of the Joint Professional Development committee is to: a. administer the Professional Development funds by setting policies and procedures regarding the expenditures of said funds; and b. co-ordinate local Professional Development programs and activities funded by this Article; c. recommend to the Union and Board rates that will be paid for expenses for out- of-town activities. F.20.2. The committee will be composed of: a. a chairperson elected by the Nicola Valley and Princeton Teachers' Union annually, b. one teacher elected by each school staff, c. one representative from the School Board, d. one representative of the Superintendent of Schools, e. one representative from the Nicola Valley Educational Administrators’ Association, f. the past Chairperson of the Joint Professional Development Committee. F.20.3. All committee members shall be notified at least five (5) days in advance of any meetings. F.20.4. Minutes shall be kept for all meetings. F.20.5. The funds for Joint Professional Development in School District No. 58 (Nicola- Similkameen) come from a. an allocation from the School Board in its annual budget of $220 for each teacher on contract as of September 30th of that year. F.20.6. The annual Joint Professional Development budget shall be allocated in accordance with guidelines established by the committee. In-district activities should be encouraged. F.20.7. Funds not expended in any one fiscal year shall be carried over to the next fiscal year. F.20.8. The employer shall submit a monthly statement to the committee of teacher-teaching- on-call days used for professional development purposes. F.20.9. To be eligible for financial assistance, prior approval of a teachers' attendance at a workshop must be given by the principal concerned, the Professional Development Committee, the Superintendent of Schools and the Secretary-Treasurer. Claims for professional development travel must be accompanied by receipts. Recommendations for changes to this process require the approval of the Board and Union before they may be implemented. F.20.10. Local teachers conducting School District No. 58 (▇▇▇▇▇▇ – ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇) professional development activities may receive compensatory time and may be reimbursed for associated expenses from any available professional development funds. Prior approval for such compensation must be received as per the procedures set by the Professional Development Committee.

JOINT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. Joint Committee - Activities and fund disbursements shall be initiated and monitored by a joint professional development committee. The Joint In-service Committee is mandated to create an appropriate in-service model based on the needs of the parties including selection of appropriate facilitators. The Committee is composed of five (5) union appointees and representatives from management. The parties provide co-chairs for the Committee.

  • Professional Development 9.01 Continuous professional development is a hallmark of professional nursing practice. As a self-regulating profession, nursing recognizes the importance of maintaining a dynamic practice environment which includes ongoing learning, the maintenance of competence, career development, career counselling and succession planning. The parties agree that professional development includes a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to formal academic programs; short-term continuing education activities; certification programs; independent learning committee participation. The parties recognize their joint responsibility in and commitment to active participation in the area of professional development.

  • Continuing Professional Development If, during the life of the Agreement, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is introduced for plumbers, all time spent in complying with the CPD obligations will be the responsibility of each plumber.

  • Professional Development Program (a) The parties agree to continue a Professional Development Program for the maintenance and development of the faculty members' professional competence and effectiveness. It is agreed that maintenance of currency of subject knowledge, the improvement of performance of faculty duties, and the maintenance and improvement of professional competence, including instructional skills, are the primary professional development activities of faculty members. (b) Information collected as part of this program shall be the sole property of the faculty member. This information or any judgments arising from this program shall not be used to determine non-renewal or termination of a faculty member's contract, suspension or dismissal of a faculty member, denial of advancement on the salary scale, nor affect any other administrative decisions pertaining to the promotion or employment status of the faculty member. (c) A joint advisory committee consisting of three regular faculty members who shall be elected by and are P.D. Committee Chairpersons and three administrators shall make recommendations for the operation, financing and management of the Professional Development Program.
