GABON Clause Samples
GABON. Located between the Congo Basin and the Gulf of Guinea, Gabon is surrounded by Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Congo. Decades of political stability, a relatively small human population (although growing rapidly now) and abundant natural resources including oil and forestry, explain the country’s prosperity. The Western Lowland Gorilla occurs throughout the country; in the 1980s-1990s, the total gorilla population of Gabon was estimated to be around 35,000 animals. However, there are signs now that many populations may have been reduced to such a low density, in areas affected by hunting and Ebola that their viability is threatened.
