Common use of Funerals Clause in Contracts

Funerals. A maximum of three (3) teaching days without loss of salary or any other benefits in the Collective Agreement is allowed to attend the funeral of immediate next-of-kin only (parents or guardians, children, brothers, sisters, spouse [including same sex or common law], mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, and sons or daughters-in-law). If more than three (3) consecutive teaching days are required to attend the funeral of immediate next of kin, the number of days in excess of three (3), where approved by the Director, shall be without loss of salary or any other benefits in the Collective Agreement. Attendance at funerals of other relations or close friends may be without loss of salary or any other benefits in the Collective Agreement, with the Director’s approval.
