Doctor's Certificate or Other Proof. The Police Chief or designee may require a doctor’s certificate or other reasonable proof of illness as he/she deem necessary in order for an employee to receive an excused absence from work and sick leave pay. The employee shall be given notice prior to returning to work that he or she will be required to provide such documentation. Employees who have unscheduled absences due to illness on a scheduled work day preceding or following a holiday may be required to bring a doctor’s certificate or other reasonable proof of illness in order to receive an excused absence and sick leave pay.
