Common use of Detective Position Clause in Contracts

Detective Position. A. The assignment of a Patrol Officer to Detective duty or reassignment to the Patrol Division shall be by the Chief of Police. Selection to the Detective Bureau shall be from a list developed from the current Sergeant list, with the first seven (7) interested candidates appearing on such list based on the score received on the examination plus one-quarter (1/4) point for each year of service up to a maximum of four (4) points, and each of such seven (7) employees shall have at least five (5) years of service within the Department. Should a tie exist for purposes of inclusion with the first seven (7), it shall be resolved in favor of the employee who has the earliest date of employment in the Department.
