Common use of Crib Break Clause in Contracts

Crib Break. 23.3.1 Where the period of overtime is to exceed 1-1/2 hours an employee prior to starting such overtime after working ordinary hours, shall be allowed a crib break of twenty minutes which shall be paid for at ordinary rates. 23.3.2 An employee working overtime after working ordinary hours shall be allowed a crib break of twenty minutes without deduction of pay after each four hours of overtime worked if the employee continues work after such crib break. 23.3.3 An employer and employee may agree to any variation of this clause to meet the circumstances of the work in hand provided that the employer shall not be required to make any payment in respect of any time allowed in excess of twenty minutes.

Unless the period of overtime is less than 1-1l2 hours an employee before starting overtime after working ordinary hours shall be allowed a meal break of twenty minutes which shall be paid for at ordinary rates. 23.3.3 14.4.2 An employer employee and employee Company may agree to any variation of this clause provision to meet the circumstances of the work in hand provided that the employer Company shall not be required to make any payment in respect of any time allowed in excess of twenty minutes.
