Common use of Continuity of Employment Clause in Contracts

Continuity of Employment. (a) The Company intends and expects to give the apprentice steady employment but reserves the right to layoff whenever business conditions make this course necessary. Layoffs will be in accordance with Article 12 of the Collective Agreement, maintaining the stipulated ratio of journeypersons to apprentices, where apprentices in each trade with the least amount of service in the program will be laid off first and rehires will be made in reverse order.
