Compensation After Upward Reclassification. An employee who is in a position, which is reclassified upward, shall be appointed to the first step of the salary schedule of the new classification, unless the first step does not result in a 5.5% increase. In such cases, the employee will be placed at the next step that provides the employee a minimum of a 5.5% increase. Assignment pay shall be calculated as part of base salary for the purpose of establishing the initial salary step of a newly reclassified employee.
