Common use of Commencement of Parental Leave Clause in Contracts

Commencement of Parental Leave. An Employee who is pregnant may commence Primary Caregiver parental leave at any time within 14 weeks prior to the expected date of birth of the Child. The period of parental leave must commence no later than the date of birth of the Child. In all other cases, Primary Caregiver parental leave commences on the day of birth or placement of the Child. Secondary caregiver parental leave may commence on the day of birth or placement of the Child. The Employer and Employee may agree to alternative arrangements regarding the commencement of parental leave. Unless otherwise agreed, any entitlement to paid parental leave will be paid from the date of commencement of parental leave. Single period of parental leave Parental leave is to be available to only one parent at a time, in a single unbroken period, except in the case of concurrent leave.
