Common use of Availability Pay Clause in Contracts

Availability Pay. Due to the unique nature of the home support industry, the need to travel between diverse client locations and to respond to last minute schedule changes, staff are required to be available for a period of unpaid time during each shift which often results in split shifts. In recognition of such requirements, each employee has received an availability pay. Since April 1, 2009 the rate has been $0.272 per hour for all hours paid. This availability pay is incorporated into the Home Support Worker Probationary and Regular Rates shown in Appendix β€œA”, effective April 1, 2010.
