Common use of Automobiles Clause in Contracts

Automobiles. Section 1. If a bargaining unit employee feels any vehicle is unsafe, he/she should immediately inform his/her supervisor. If the supervisor feels the concern is justified and the vehicle to be unsafe, the supervisor shall cause the same to be removed from service. Said vehicle shall remain out of service until cleared as safe by the Sheriff's Office's mechanic. The Employer shall not require employees to use any vehicle that is not in safe operating condition. No employee will refuse to use any vehicle that is in safe operating condition. In the departmental mechanic's absence, decisions concerning the vehicle's serviceability shall be made by the Sheriff, Undersheriff or the Chief Deputy.
