Aides shall not be left in the classroom during instruction time unsupervised to monitor students for periods exceeding fifteen (15) minutes daily unless it is considered an administrative emergency. Health Aides shall be assigned to provide assistance and/or service to students with physical disabilities which require one-on-one service and assistance which is not a part of the everyday aide's job. No listing of physical disabilities which require special assistance can be complete, however, such a listing would include: catheterization; tracheal device monitoring and/or cleaning; closed-head injury monitoring, movement; oxygen-support monitoring, etc. Health Aides will be given the training and/or coaching needed to enable them to provide appropriate services for students. In the event of unforeseen complications in health aide duties or assignments, the Board will discuss courses of action with the Union, however, the Board reserves the right to make final decisions.
