Common use of Administration of Medication Clause in Contracts

Administration of Medication. In accordance with state law and school board policy/guidelines #5330, the following procedures shall be followed: in order to dispense medication to a student, an employee must be designated by the school administrator. Medication, whether prescription or otherwise, shall be administered by the designated employee in the presence of a second adult except in the case of an emergency that threatens the life or health of the student. Prior to dispensing any medication, written authorization signed by a licensed physician and the student’s parent/guardian shall be received by the district and furnished to the designated employee. Training, if necessary, will be provided for the non- health service personnel who are responsible for dispensing of medication.
