Common use of Additional Bereavement Leave and Use of Sick Leave Clause in Contracts

Additional Bereavement Leave and Use of Sick Leave. Employees in the Bargaining Unit will be granted the bereavement leave in alignment with Oregon Family Medical Leave Act (OFLA). Accrued sick and vacation time can be used to cover any bereavement days needed beyond the five (5) paid bereavement day allotted in Article 17.1. The Chief Human Resources Officer (or designee) in collaboration with the immediate supervisor, may grant extra leave, at their discretion for unusual or critical circumstances. The employee may use available sick, vacation, or leave without pay under these circumstances.
