The Academic Study Leave clause establishes the terms under which an employee, typically in an academic or educational institution, may take a temporary leave of absence to pursue research, further study, or professional development. This clause usually outlines eligibility criteria, the application process, duration of leave, and any obligations regarding the return to work or reporting on activities undertaken during the leave. Its core function is to support the professional growth of staff while ensuring institutional needs are met, balancing individual development with organizational continuity.
Academic Study Leave. An academic study leave is one during which the unit member pursues a program of a minimum of eight (8) units of semester credit per semester or the equivalent in an accredited institution.
Academic Study Leave. A teacher who has been on the staff of the Wayland Public Schools for a minimum of four (4) years and has a record of satisfactory service shall be eligible for academic study leave for the academic year provided that said teacher states his/her intent to return to the Wayland schools for a minimum period of one year. Academic Study Leave, if granted by the COMMITTEE, shall be leave without pay. If possible, on return to Wayland from Academic Leave, a teacher will be assigned to the position h/she held before leaving Wayland. A teacher granted said leave shall advance on the salary schedule as h/she would have advanced had h/she been employed in the Wayland schools provided a transcript of his/her study is filed with the Superintendent. Requests for Academic Leave for the ensuing school year must be presented to the Superintendent in writing by March 1 of each school year.
Academic Study Leave. TYPE ONE Full time and proportional ASMs, SASMs, and PASMs shall be eligible to apply for the award of up to and including 20 weeks ASL upon meeting the service requirement of five years and where the purpose of the application is for industrial and academic activities which may include research. Approval of Type 1 applications for ASL shall be undertaken by the relevant Director and relevant Head of Department.
Academic Study Leave. This clause does not apply to Learning Facilitators, Team Leader of Learning Facilitators (TLLF), Part Time academic kaimahi, or kaimahi who remain entitled to discretionary leave.
Academic Study Leave. TYPE TWO ASMs, ▇▇▇▇▇, and PASMs who are substantially involved in research as part of their agreed workload are eligible to apply for the award of up to 45 weeks ASL for research purposes on meeting the service requirement of seven years and demonstrating an appropriate research record. Approval of Type 2 applications for ASL shall be undertaken by a panel set up by the employer in accordance with Schedule B and such panel will operate in equity and good faith. Service as defined for the purposes of ASL is the time since appointment or since the date of return to work from any previous ASL awarded to that ASMs, SASMs, and PASMs. ASL cannot be accumulated beyond the five or seven-year limit except in special circumstances approved by the employer. Where ASL is delayed by the employer for operational reasons, the kaimahi will not be disadvantaged. The period of delay will be attributed to the next eligibility of ASL.
Academic Study Leave. ACADEMIC EMPLOYEES ONLY 51.1 An Academic Employee may apply for academic study leave provided they have completed at least 3 years of continuous service as an academic employee with the University at the time the proposed study leave will commence. 51.2 The following table indicates the maximum periods of study leave that maybe granted and the period of service required. Three years 26 weeks Six years 52 weeks 51.3 On completion of leave the employee will return to the University and serve a period of service equivalent to the period of leave taken. If the required service is not served the University may recover from the employee the whole or part of any salary, grants or allowances paid in relation to the period of study leave.

  • Study Leave Credits for study leave will be given for educational commitments falling due between an employee's nominated starting and finishing times.

  • Academic Program A. Upon successful completion of the major requirements specified in III. B below, Dakota State University will accept 24 technical course credits from the A.A.S. degree in Business Administration for students majoring in BBA (accounting, business technology, finance, management, marketing). Students must successfully complete the A.A.S. degree in Business Administration from SETC prior to transferring to Dakota State University for the technical course credits to be accepted.   • Investigatory Leave The Appointing Authority/designee may place an employee who is the subject of a disciplinary investigation on an investigatory leave with pay provided a reasonable basis exists to warrant such leave.

  • Study An application for leave of absence for professional study must be supported by a written statement indicating what study or research is to be undertaken, or, if applicable, what subjects are to be studied and at what institutions.
