thermal coal definition

thermal coal means a coal used by power plants and industrial steam boilers to produce electricity, steam or both.
thermal coal means coal that is used primarily for its heating value. Thermal coal tends not to have the carbonization properties possessed by metallurgical coals. Most thermal coal is used to produce electricity in thermal power plants;
thermal coal means coal used to generate electricity, such as that which is burned to create steam to run turbines. Thermal coal does not mean metallurgical coal or coking coal used to produce steel.
