Specifically designed definition

Specifically designed normally means that it is tailor made; it is designed to meet the need of a specific application. It is usually dimensioned and customised according to the need of the application. Therefore, for any equipment intended to be used as a replacement or modification to a boat to qualify for an exemption from RoHS, it has to be demonstrated (e.g. with sales documents, installation instructions, marketing literature, etc.) that it is only to be installed on the boat and not for use in another application that is within scope of RoHS.
