Critical Component definition

Critical Component means, in respect of a weapons system referred to in the definition of Prohibited Defense Contract, a component used specifically in the production of the weapon system or plays a direct role in the lethality of the weapon system.
Critical Component means a part identified as critical by the design approval holder during the product type validation process, or otherwise by the exporting authority. Typically, such components include parts for which a replacement time, inspection interval, or related procedure is specified in the Airworthiness Limitations section or certification maintenance requirements of the manufacturer’s maintenance manual or Instructions for Continued Airworthiness.
Critical Component means, in respect of a weapons system referred to in the definition of Prohibited Defense Asset, a component (other than software) manufactured with the sole purpose of being used in, and is used specifically in the production of the weapon system or plays a direct role in the lethality of the weapon system.
