Substitute Teaching. A teacher will be additionally compensated for substitute teaching according to the following conditions: 1. The substitution occurs during the preparation period of the teacher who is substituting; 2. The teacher for whom the substitution is occurring must use a recognized leave day as established in Article IV of this agreement; 3. Compensation shall be at an hourly rate, which is determined by the maximum daily substitute-teaching rate for this school corporation divided by eight (8); 4. Compensation is calculated as time dedicated to substitute teaching times the rate established in Article III.D.3; 5. Substitute teaching arrangement must be approved and/or assigned by the building principal.
