Common use of Stand-by Time Clause in Contracts

Stand-by Time. Stand-by time is defined as time that an employee is assigned, in writing and in advance, to be ready to work outside their normal work hours Schedule and Response. While on stand-by time, the employee must be ready and able to report to work within forty-five (45) minutes if so notified by phone, pagers, or other electronic device provided by the City. Employees on stand-by shall be subject to the call out provisions of this Article.

Stand-by Time. Stand-by time is defined as the period of time that when the Employer requires an employee is assigned, in writing and in advance, to be ready readily available to work outside their normal work contact by telephone or other method of communication. An employee who is notified by the Employer that he/she is on "stand-by" during his/her scheduled off duty hours Schedule shall be paid at the respective overtime compensation rate specified in Section 18.3 or 18.4 for all time spent on such status. As soon as the Employer determines that stand-by time will be required, the Employer will notify the employee of the date and Response. While time the employee shall be required to be on stand-by time, the employee must be ready and able to report to work within forty-five (45) minutes if so notified by phone, pagers, or other electronic device provided by the City. Employees on stand-by shall be subject to the call out provisions of this Articleby.
