Sick leave may be used for. (a) Personal illness, injury, exposure to contagious diseases, which could be communicated to other employees or pupils, and pregnancy. (b) Illness of dependent member of employee's household, employee's child, spouse, daughter/son-in-law, grandchildren, parents, parents-in-Iaw, or one who has served in lieu of parents. (c) Death of employee's parents, parents-in-Iaw (or one who has served in lieu of parent), spouse, son, daughter, son-in-Iaw, daughter-in- Iaw, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-Iaw, grandparent, grandchild, or dependent member of employee's household. (d) Employees who render part-time service shall be entitled to sick leave for the time actually worked at the same rate granted full- time employees.
Sick leave may be used for. 1. Personal illness or disability of the teacher, including all disabilities caused or contributed to by pregnancy, miscarriage, abortion, childbirth and recovery. 2. Serious illness within the immediate family of the teacher. (Immediate family shall mean mother, father, children, grandparents and anyone living in the contracted person’s household). 3. The union may provide up to two (2) sick days per member per school year to establish and maintain a sick leave bank. Unused days remaining in the sick leave bank at the end of the year will accumulate for the following year. Upon depletion of his/her personal sick days, any bargaining unit member may make application to utilize sick leave bank days. Utilization of sick leave bank shall be for the same purposes as personal sick days found in section 4.3 so long as there are days remaining in the bank during any fiscal school year. The employer will provide reports on the status of the sick leave bank, including number of days remaining, to the association/union upon request. Applications will be considered by the WEA Sick Leave Bank Committee and dealt with in accordance with its guidelines.
Sick leave may be used for. (1) An absence necessitated by the employee's physical incapacity as may be prompted by illness, injury, pregnancy disability, preventive care or diagnosis, care or treatment of an existing health condition, or the illness, injury, preventive care or diagnosis, care or treatment of an existing health condition of an employee's immediate family member which necessitates the employee's absence. Immediate family is defined as spouse, legal domestic partner, child, step-child, xxxxxx child, father, mother, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, father-in-law, mother- in-law, aunt, uncle, nephew, xxxxx, stepparent, grandparents, grandchildren or persons living in the same household and related by blood. An employee may also designate one person per 12-month period at the time the employee requests sick leave. (2) Medical and dental office appointments when the employee cannot obtain an appointment during off-duty hours for the employee or his or her dependents. (3) Absence due to exposure to a contagious disease when quarantine is imposed by health authorities. (4) Sick leave may be used for all qualifying events as provided for under the City’s Family Care and Medical Leave Policy. (5) Sick leave may be used for all qualifying events and eligible family members as provided for under the Health Workplace, Healthy Family Act of 2014. Employees may also use sick leave to obtain relief or services related to being a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking, including the following with appropriate certification of the need for such services: i. A temporary restraining order or restraining order. ii. Other injunctive relief to help ensure the health, safety or welfare of themselves or their children. iii. To seek medical attention for injuries caused by domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking. iv. To obtain services from a domestic violence shelter, program, or rape crisis center as a result of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking. v. To obtain psychological counseling related to an experience of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking. vi. To participate in safety planning and take other actions to increase safety from future domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking, including temporary or permanent relocation. (6) Vacation may not be used in lieu of sick leave for an employee’s own sickness or medical appointments unless sick leave accruals have been exhausted first. (7) Absence not ...
Sick leave may be used for. A. Employee's illness or injury. B. As emergency leave in the event of injury or illness in an employee's family (living in household). C. Medical appointments and testing, scheduled and/or emergency. Unless emergency appointment, all other appointments or testing should accommodate business needs of the operation. D.   • Unused Sick Leave The accrual of unused sick leave hours is unlimited. The City and the Union commit to the evaluation and establishment of a mutually beneficial non-use of sick leave incentive and pay-out policy. Until such time that a policy is established, accumulated sick leave shall be compensated as follows: Upon retirement from the City service, an employee shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated sick leave, with the rate of payment based upon his regular pay at the time he retires. Upon the death of an employee, his beneficiary shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated unused sick leave, with the payment based upon his regular pay at the date of his death.

  • Accrued 100% sick leave The use of sick leave under this subsection is at the employee's discretion.

  • Paid Sick Leave For those jurisdictions that have passed or will pass legislation requiring Paid Sick Leave, Paid Sick Time will be billed back to Client at the straight-time bill rate for all hours taken by any Consultant assigned to Client. This section is not applicable until the effective date of such legislation has been reached.

  • Payment for Unused Sick Leave (a) An employee with less than ten (10) years of FIU service who separates from FIU shall not be paid for any unused sick leave. (b) An employee who has completed ten (10) or more years of FIU service, has not been found guilty or has not admitted to being guilty of committing, aiding, or abetting any embezzlement, theft, or bribery in connection with State government, or has not been found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction of having violated any State law against or prohibiting strikes by public employees, and separates from FIU because of retirement for other than disability reasons, termination, or death, shall be compensated at the employee's current regular hourly rate of pay for one-eighth of all unused sick leave accrued prior to October 1, 1973, plus one- fourth of all unused sick leave accrued on or after October 1, 1973; provided that one-fourth of the unused sick leave since 1973 does not exceed 480 hours. The compensation in this paragraph 8(4)(b) shall not be given to an employee who starts employment at FIU on or after July 1, 2006. (c) Upon layoff, an employee with ten (10) or more years of FIU service shall be paid for unused sick leave as described in paragraph b., above, unless the employee requests in writing that unused sick leave be retained pending re-employment. For an employee who is re-employed by the University within twelve (12) calendar months following layoff, all unused sick leave shall be restored to the employee, provided the employee requests such action in writing and repays the full amount of any lump sum leave payments received at the time of layoff. An employee who is not re- employed within twelve (12) calendar months following layoff shall be paid for sick leave in accordance with this Policy. (d) All payments for unused sick leave shall be made in lump sum and shall not be used in determining the average final compensation of an employee in any State administered retirement system. An employee shall not be carried on the payroll beyond the last official day of employment, except that an employee who is unable to perform duties because of a disability may be continued on the payroll until all sick leave is exhausted. (e) If an employee has received a lump sum payment for accrued sick leave, the employee may elect in writing, upon re-employment within 100 days, to restore the employee's accrued sick leave. Restoration will be effective upon the repayment of the full lump sum leave payment. (f) In the event of the death of an employee, payment for unused sick leave at the time of death shall be made to the employee's beneficiary, estate, or as provided by law.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use sick leave credits for family illness or injury only if the employee must provide direct care to an immediate family member. For purposes of family sick leave, “immediate family member” will mean the employee’s parent, spouse, or child, including step-child and xxxxxx child.

  • Sick Leave Without Pay A leave of absence without pay, may be granted at the sole discretion of the Board to an Employee who does not qualify for sick leave pay or who is unable to return to work when that Employee’s sick leave terminates.

  • Reinstatement of Vacation Days - Sick Leave In the event an employee is sick or injured prior to the commencement of his/her vacation, such employee shall be granted sick leave and the vacation period so displaced shall be added to the vacation period if requested by the employee and by mutual agreement, or shall be reinstated for use at a later date.

  • Accumulation of Sick Leave The unused portion of an Employee's sick leave shall accrue for her future benefit, up to a maximum of one hundred and thirty (130) days.
