Sick Leave Conversion Program. A portion of the balance of an employee’s accumulated sick leave shall be paid to the employee who terminates employment in good standing after 10 or more years of service, or to the employee’s beneficiary in the event of death while a regular employee with the City. The maximum time any employee may apply to the sick leave conversion formula shall be 1700 hours. It shall be paid in the following manner: Two and one-half percent (2.5%) times each full year of the employee’s continuous years of service times the employee’s sick leave accumulation, but no greater than 1700 hours, at a rate equivalent to the employee’s current gross hourly salary. An employee may opt to utilize his/her accrued sick leave as defined in ORS 237.153.
