Common use of School Conference and Activities Leave Clause in Contracts

School Conference and Activities Leave. An employee may be granted up to a total of sixteen (16) hours of unpaid leave during any school year to attend school conferences or classroom activities related to the employee’s dependent(s), provided such conferences or classroom activities cannot be scheduled during non-work hours. When the leave cannot be scheduled during non-work hours and the need for the leave is foreseeable, the employee must provide at least three (3) days written notice of the leave and make a reasonable effort to schedule leave so as not to disrupt unduly the operations of the Employer. The employee may substitute vacation or compensatory time for this purpose according to the provisions of Article 11.
