Common use of Rate of Pay on Promotion Clause in Contracts

Rate of Pay on Promotion. An employee appointed to a classification level having a maximum greater than the maximum of his/her former classification level shall be paid in the new classification level at the rate of pay, nearest to the rate he/she was receiving immediately before the appointment, that gives an increase in pay of not less than the smallest pay increment for the new classification level. If there is no such rate, the employee shall be paid the maximum rate in the new scale.
