Qualified Craftsmen. Employers shall only employ qualified Journeymen Pipefitters. Journeymen Pipefitters shall be qualified for employment who have had at least five
Qualified Craftsmen. (a) ONLY QUALIFIED CRAFTSMEN EMPLOYED. Contractors shall employ only qualified journeyman: plumbers, steamfitters, pipe fitter/ welders and HVAC/Refrigeration.
(b) QUALIFICATIONS. Journeyman: plumbers, steamfitters, pipe fitter/welders and HVAC/Refrigeration shall be qualified for employment if they meet the following requirements:
(1) FIVE (5) YEARS EXPERIENCE. They must have five (5) years actual practical working experience at the plumbing, pipefitting or HVAC/Refrigeration trade as a journeyman or apprentice in the plumbing, pipefitting or HVAC/Refrigeration industry of the United States as evidenced by membership in a U.A. local or by affidavits of employers.
Qualified Craftsmen. Employers shall only employ journeymen plumbers, pipefitters and HVAC mechanics who are qualified for employment by at least five (5) years practical working experience at the plumbing, pipefitting or HVAC trade as journeymen or apprentices in the building and construction industry and who either:
a. Have successfully served an apprenticeship at the trade under an apprenticeship program approved by the United States Bureau of Apprenticeship Training, or
b. Have had previous employment as a journeyman plumber, pipefitter or HVAC mechanic with a signatory to this agreement and whose services have proved satisfactory, or
c. Have successfully passed a competency examination that adequately tested the degree of skill and training necessary to be a competent journeyman plumber, pipefitter or HVAC mechanic. Any question as to what constitutes a "competency" examination shall be resolved by the Union.
Qualified Craftsmen. The Employer shall only employ qualified journeymen plumbers, pipefitters, refrigeration men. Journeymen plumbers, pipefitters and refrigeration men shall be qualified for employment who have had at least five (5) years actual practical working experience at the plumbing, pipefitting or refrigeration trade as a journeyman or apprentice in the building and construction industry and who either:
a) Have successfully served an apprenticeship at the trade under an apprenticeship program approved by the United States Bureau of Apprenticeship Training or State Division of Apprenticeship Standards.
b) Have had previous employment as a Journeyman plumber, pipefitter or refrigeration man with an Employer signatory to this agreement and whose services have proved satisfactory, or
c) Have successfully passed any competency examination that adequately tested the degree of skill and training necessary to be a competent Journeyman plumber, pipefitter, or refrigeration man. Any questions as to what constitutes a “competency” examination shall be resolved by the Examining Board and/or the Joint Apprenticeship Committee.
Qualified Craftsmen. Contractors shall employ Journeymen, Plumbers, Pipefitters and Welders. Journeymen shall be P.I.P.E. / N.I.T.C. and/or UA National Certified for employment under this Agreement who have successfully passed a P.I.P.E. / N.I.T.C. and/or UA National Certification Examination in the plumbing or pipefitting trade in the building and construction industry.
5.1.1.1 Hiring provisions covering Apprentices, Pre-Apprentices, Pipe Tradesmen and Pipe Layers are covered under the Sections of this Agreement dealing with those classifications.
5.1.1.2 Supervision are Journeymen for the purpose of hiring referral and transfer of men.
5.1.1 2.1 Whenever the term “P. I. P. E. / N.I.T.C. and/or UA National Certified Journeymen” is used in this Agreement, it shall not apply to workmen employed in work covered under Appendix D, Sections D.4 and D.5 of this Agreement. However, all other provisions of the hiring procedures shall be complied with.
5.1.1.3 Newly Organized workmen will be grandfathered for a period of up to three (3) years to meet the hour requirements and one
(1) year to obtain P.I.P.E. / N.I.T.C. and/or UA National Certification. 5.1.2 Exclusive Hiring. Contractors shall hire “P.I.P.E./N.I.T.C and/or UA National Certified Journeymen” by calling the Local Union having craft and geographical jurisdiction in which the job is to be performed. Whenever a Contractor requires a Journeyman on any job, he shall notify the Local Union office, either in writing or by telephone, stating the location, starting time, approximate duration of the job, type of work to be performed and the number of workmen required, prior to starting the job. No employee shall be required to fill out, sign or submit any information about himself except that required by law.

A. Have successfully served an apprenticeship at the trade under an apprenticeship program approved by the United States Office of Apprenticeship Training, Employer and Labor Services and/or the Division of Apprenticeship Standards of the California Department of Industrial Relations, OR
B. Have had previous employment as a Journeyman plumber or pipefitter with an Individual Employer signatory to this Agreement and whose service has proved satisfactory, OR
C. Have successfully passed an examination conducted by or pursuant to rules established by the Union.
Qualified Craftsmen. EMPLOYERS shall only employ qualified Journeymen Plumbers, Steamfitters, or Pipe Fitters, Sprinkler Fitters and Lead Burners plus Apprentices. Journeymen Plumbers and Pipe Fitters shall be qualified for employment who have at least five (5) years actual experience at the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting trade as a Journeyman or Apprentice, in the Building and Construction Industry, and who either;
(a) Have successfully served an Apprenticeship at the trade under an Apprenticeship Program approved by the United States Bureau of Apprenticeship Training or State Division of Apprenticeship Standards.
(b) Have had previous employment as a Journeyman Plumber or Pipe Fitter with a EMPLOYER signatory to this Agreement whose services have proved satisfactory, or
(c) Have successfully passed any competency examination that adequately tested the degree of skill and training necessary to be a competent, Journeyman Plumber or Pipe Fitter. Any question as to what constitutes a "Competency" examination shall be received by
(d) If Local Union No. 52 is unable to furnish qualified men as required within 72 hours, the EMPLOYER can obtain Employees elsewhere.
(e) All Employees furnished EMPLOYER shall be on a nondiscriminatory basis in accordance with regulations and provisions of the Constitution with regard to race, creed, color, religious, sex or national origin.
