Common use of Procedure-Personal Leave Clause in Contracts

Procedure-Personal Leave. Employees with one or more years of continuous service may request a leave of absence without pay, for personal reasons, in writing, to the Sheriff, setting forth the reasons for the request and the length of time requested. The Union will be furnished a copy of the request for personal leave. The Sheriff may grant a leave of absence without pay up to thirty (30) calendar days. Leaves of absence without pay for more than thirty (30) calendar days but less than six (6) months may be granted by the Department Head, with the approval of the Director of Labor Relations and Personnel and the County Board Committee responsible for the department. Leaves of absence without pay which are requested for a period in excess of six (6) months must be approved by the County Executive.
