To support the theatre personnel to prepare the theatre environment for the appropriate procedure, including the positioning of the patient, whilst respecting and ensuring their safety and dignity is maintained at all times, in line with site policies and procedures. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES • Ability to prioritise work load so that tasks are completed effectively, to a high standard, safely and in a timely manner • Preparation of the operating room and equipment for each surgical procedure • Assist with the safe transfer of patients on and off the operating table • Assists nursing and medical staff with the positioning of patients on the operating table and during anaesthetic and operative procedures • Connects surgical equipment to patients under direction of medical / nursing staff • Ensure all cleaning in designated areas is carried out in accordance with documented procedures and schedule. i.e., spot cleans and termi cleans • Undertake designated cleaning tasks ensuring high standards of cleanliness (including personal) are maintained utilising standards and additional precautions for operating room • Restocking of items as requested by staff • Maintenance of stock rotation and restocking as needed, i.e. fluids/ blankets • Removal of rubbish, dirty linen and sharps containers as required throughout the shift • Assists with transportation / escort patients from wards / DPU/ Main Theatre to the operating theatre for the procedure, return to wards / DPU post procedure as directed by the department manager GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Employees are required to comply with the Victorian Government’s Code of Conduct. All staff must ensure they comply with policies, procedures and standard ways of work practices when carrying out their work. Employees are responsible to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and the safety of others, to cooperate with the group’s OH&S policies and to participate in appropriate safety education and evaluation activities. Any unauthorised disclosure of such information may result in disciplinary action.
