Optional Leave Clause Samples

The Optional Leave clause allows employees to take additional time off beyond mandatory or statutory leave entitlements, typically at their own discretion and subject to employer approval. This clause outlines the conditions under which such leave can be requested, such as advance notice requirements or limits on the number of days that may be taken. Its core function is to provide flexibility for employees to manage personal needs or unforeseen circumstances, while giving employers a framework to manage staffing and operational continuity.
Optional Leave. On the recommendation of the Superintendent, absence in excess of that referred to in Sections (F) through (J) may be reviewed by the Board for special consideration, but there shall be no deviation from these rules except by vote of the Board.
